The Big Summer Read is back for another year! Join the fun, we want Casey kids to keep reading over Summer.
The Big Summer Read is a children’s reading campaign that runs from Monday 1 December to Saturday 31 January.
The challenge encourages children and young people to keep reading over the summer school holidays to maintain literacy skills and foster a lifelong love of reading.
This year, you can enter the challenge in one of two ways- By filling out a paper entry collected from the library OR by registering online and logging your books online.
Reading incentive prizes (bookmarks, stickers and stamps) can be collected during the challenge when you return a paper entry to the library.
All entries need to be submitted by Monday 9 February.
Step 1: Collect a paper entry from any Connected Libraries location
Step 2: Fill out the form by logging a minimum of 5 book titles read on the Books Read Log and/or 5 days of reading on the Days Read Calendar Log during the challenge
Step 3: Return your entry to the library by Monday 9 February.
Every five days spent reading and/or every five books listed is a chance to WIN!
Step 1: Register for the challenge online
Step 2: Tick off a minimum of 5 days that you’ve read from Monday 1 December to Saturday 31 January in the ‘Log the Days you Read’ badge.
It doesn’t matter if you read for 5 minutes or 5 hours, it all counts!
OR
Or log a minimum of 5 books that you’ve read in the ‘Log the Books you Read’ badge.
Or do both! There are also bonus challenges to keep you engaged with reading all summer long.
Whether you enter online or with a paper form from the library, you will be entered in the draw to win the following prizes:
Major Prize: An iPad!
Runner Up Prizes: $50 QBD Bookshop voucher- There is one per library up for grabs!
All prizes will be randomly drawn.

Ages 0-4 years – Book pack
Ages 5-8 years – Book Bundle
Ages 9-12 years – Sony Headphones
Ages 13-18 years – Kobo eReader
Statewide Prizes:
0-4 years old: Book Pack + Zoos Victoria Membership
